About Global Connections:

This is a very exciting time for Carrington Middle School as we move to incorporate and define our focus as a "Global Connections" school beginning with the 2013-14 school year.

This development comes about as a result of considering the question, "How can we better prepare our students for the challenges, unique demands and exciting opportunities of living 21st-century lives while becoming knowledgeable sensitive, responsible citizens in a global society?" Integrating global education into the Common Core curriculum will allow students to make personal and meaningful connections with their peers across geographical boundaries, expand their awareness of the world, increase their interest in what they are learning, and learn to value and respect all people.

Our collective aim is to integrate a global perspective into every subject and at every grade level in order to prepare our students to live productive and fulfilling lives in a global society.

Carrington's teachers incorporate elearning projects, epals, wikis, blogs and podcasts, in addition to many other strategies in order to enhance learning experiences and make them more meaningful and relevant for our students.

By connecting learning in our classrooms to peers, experts, people and cultures, ideas, resources, and perspectives from around the world, students are better able to understand and appreciate the interconnected nature of global issues, learn to communicate more effectively and relate better to individuals from different countries and cultures.
